Jonathan Biggs of J. Collins and Son is the fourth generation in the trade, having taken over the furniture side of the business from his parents, John and Pamela, in January 2005. His great grandfather had a shop in Harrow in 1912, however it was his grandfather who established the business in Bideford in 1953 located in the High Street till December 2004. In September 2008 the new gallery of fine furniture was opened in Charles Avenue, Bideford, which has ample parking outside and is open from 9-30 am till 5-00 pm Tuesday to Saturday (closed lunchtime 1-00 pm to 2-00 pm).

Jonathan joined the family business after leaving school and spent two years in the workshop familiarising himself with the restoration of furniture and has spent much of the years since in the business. Since taking over the furniture side he has become a member of BADA (The British Antique Dealers' Association) and exhibits at their prestigious fair in the Duke of York Square, off Sloane Square, Chelsea, London each March; and is a member of LAPADA (The Association of Art and Antique Dealers) and exhibits at their flagship fair in Berkeley Square, London in September of each year. He also exhibits at the Powderham Castle Fairs near Exeter in November and February/March each year, and is a member of WEADA (The West of England Antique Dealers' Association). Complimentary tickets are available for each fair.

Having a workshop facility with a skilled cabinet maker, the furniture is restored to a high standard of conservation. Restoration of clients’ furniture and paintings may be undertaken.

When in Devon, do come and view the selection of fine English furniture and paintings in my gallery.
