PERIOD FURNITURE IN VOGUE

23.04.2016

At a recent fair we met an interior designer, who mentioned that her clients with modern tastes were requesting one or two period items of furniture per room.  We came across a brochure that had a sitting room illustrated in this manner and the George III mahogany bureau as a single item looked in keeping with the decor.  This is a good time to puchase good quality period furniture, as prices are very much affordable.

Since January we have exhibited at our usual fairs of Shepton Mallet, Westpoint, Ardingly and the South Molton Pannier Market.  We also for the first time exhibited at RHS Rosemoor, near Torrington, and achieved sales of treen as well as furniture.  Two more RHS Rosemoor fairs are scheduled this year on the 23rd-24th July and the 15th-16th October, and we look forward to exhibiting there on both these dates.  The July fair depends on a suitable location found to erect the marquee, as building work commences this summer of a permanent exhibition hall.

New additions to the website include two good quality 17th century oak side tables, a 17th century oak side chair and two coffers  as well as a number of stools, which can be found in the oak and country section.  We are holding a larger stock of oak and country items now as well as our formal mahogany furniture.  Among the treen and wooden bygone items is a rare 18th century cat (bowl stand) and two unusual recumbent hounds made of pine, and originally from the arms of an armchair.  We update the site weekly, so it is well worth a visit.  Do check the tweet box on the homepage for the latest items added.

The next fair is at Builth Wells, Wales on the 30th April and 1st May followed the weekend after by the one at Shepton Mallet from the 6th till 8th of May.  At the end of May on the 27th-29th we shall be at Cothay Manor near Wellington.  We shall be exhibiting our usual selection of furniture, treen and pictures at these events, so we look look forward to seeing you should you be able to visit.  The shop is open Tuesday to Saturday excluding when we are at fairs.  Therefore do come and look around the gallery in Bideford, all are welcome.
