Shepton Mallet Fair and New Stock

24.01.2014

Last weekend we exhibited at the Shepton Mallet Fair in our usual spot in Mendip One.  The attendance was good and we had much interest in many items on the stand including sales.  Among the sales, new homes were found for a George IV Mahogany Sewing Table and the 1970’s Glass Retro Table with a mirror base.  It was with much amusement within the trade we handled such a late piece of furniture from the 1970’s and it was certainly a departure from our usual period of stock.  At the fair we exhibited a selection of treen, which caused much interest and sales from visitors and collectors alike.  There is definitely more interest in furniture now as commented on in our last blog ‘Little Brown Shoots’, as the economy recovers back to what it should be.

Prices of furniture on the open market are increasing notably.  However it is still a good time to purchase good quality period furniture, as they are still lower than the heady heights of the late 1990’s.  This week we have updated the website with a George III Mahogany Fret Cut Wall Mirror, English Circa 1780 and a George III Breakfront Set of Mahogany Wall Shelves, English Circa 1780 with alterations.  Under the miscellaneous heading the selection of treen has also been added, which is well worth a visit.

As previously mentioned one can follow us on twitter with our twitter feed jcollinsantique where all new stock is tweeted as well as notifications.

We look forward to seeing you in the shop or at the next fair at Shepton Mallet in March.
