S/2120 Antique Treen 18th Century Lignum Vitae Salt
An important circular late 18th century lignum vitae salt, having an exterior rim with a minute carved zig zag above four incised lines. The stem has five graduated bead turnings, seated on an angled base with a shallow vertical foot. The salt is mostly heart wood with a small amount of sap wood, and is a rich colour and has a lovely patination.
