S/3180 Antique 18th Century Sheraton Period Two Division Purple Heart Tea Caddy
A fine Sheraton Period two division tea caddy in purple heart, outlined with boxwood stringing and having an oval inlay panel on the lid in boxwood and sycamore, depicting a beetle with wings outstretched. The front has an oval panel, centered with a shell in the traditional manner. The front and top, crossbanded in tulip wood within boxwood and holly stringing, has canted corners. The two front ones are inlaid with a vase and leaves. The whole, fitted with a lock and key, is unfaded, of a rich colour and retains a patination.
