S/3916 Antique Treen 18th Century Spirit or Rum Barrel
An important and most unusual Georgian spirit or rum barrel, made from a piece of bamboo, carved with moulded line decoration and retaining its original ends, one of which is fitted with a removable gun metal tap. The top has a white metal corked stopper. The barrel is raised on a shaped solid mahogany stand, which in turn is seated on a stepped and concave foot with a rounded edge. The whole has an exceptional rich colour and patination.
