S/1696 17th Century Lignum Vitae Tumbler or Dipper Cup

A good example of a 17th century lignum vitae tumbler or dipper cup, having a scalloped, engraved and punched silver rim, inscribed Elizabeth Alexander and raised on a shallow foot. The whole has a pleasing colour, being heart wood and sap wood, and retains a patination.
