S/1745 19th Century Folk Art Elm Figurative Spoon
A rare folk art and most interesting ornately carved elm figurative spoon, having a shape of the hat and the plait to the rear implying the work of a sailor. It was probably carved while on board a ship and is inscribed on the reverse 'Thomas Arthur'. The whole has a good honey colour and retains a patination - a real collector's item.
