S/1781 George III Red Walnut Beer Coaster

A rare fine quality red walnut brass galleried beer coaster or wagon, for circulation of beer down the table, having a raised circular platform for a jug or black jack mounted on four mahogany turned barrels. The base has grooves for spillage and retains its three original swivelling brass barrel castors. The whole is in fine condition, a lovely rich colour and retains a patination, which is often found on items of furniture from taverns and coaching inns, where beer is involved.
