S/2129 Antique Treen 17th Century Charles II Yew Wood Candle Holder

An extremely rare well used late 17th century Charles II yew wood candle holder, having a brass and copper handle. The conical shaped base has a concave mould and reeded lines, and has an excellent colour and patination.

Provenance: from the W. J. Shepherd Collection, illustrated in his sale catalogue at Sotheby's in 1983 Lot 852 bottom right.
