S/2223 Antique Treen 19th Century Pear Wood Knitting Sheath

A fine pear wood knitting sheath in the form of a shoe, probably from Teesdale, carved with crosses and lines to the handle, imitation stitches on the sole and heel, and has a brass plate to the end to protect the needle.

Provenance: Dr. Ian Feeters, illustrated in colour on the back cover of 'Knitting Sticks and Sheaths a History' by Dr. Feeters.
