S/2272 Antique Treen 18th Century Lignum Vitae Slickenstone

A late 18th century lignum vitae slickenstone of traditional design, made from both heart and sap wood. Slickenstones or linen smoothers were made of china, glass, marble or wood and were used with the cap downwards in a circular sweeping movement for smoothing and to some extent glazing damp linen.
