S/2280 Antique Treen 17th Century Jacobean Oak Mortar

A fine English oak 17th century Jacobean mortar, having six separate bands of incised ring turned decoration on a short concave stem and stepped reeded foot on a vertical plinth. The interior has protruding grain showing signs of extensive use over the years. The whole has a lovely dark rich colour and patination.
