S/2413 Antique Treen 19th Century Squirrel Nutcracker
A well carved late 19th century squirrel nutcracker having a screw action. The squirrel sits on top of the handle and his paws hold a nut, which he is eating with his tail curled up his back. A similar one is illustrated on page 151 in The Art and Character of Nut Crackers by Arlene and George Wagner. The whole retains a patination.
