S/2472 Antique Treen 19th Century Hardwood Ladle

A rare deeply carved 19th century Scottish hardwood ladle, having a cylindrical handle with extensive woven and Celtic knotwork motifs and a small thistle shaped finial. The circular carved bowl depicts a hunter shooting a deer, with two hunting dogs both in full flight. The whole is in perfect condition and retains a patination.
