S/2512 Antique Treen 19th Century Fruitwood String Barrel

A good quality fruitwood string barrel, having reeded turnings to the top and base and a decoratively turned ivory finial. The barrel unscrews to reveal two long turned spikes for an ivory spool which revolves to allow the string to pass through a small collared hole in the side of the barrel. The whole has a lovely rich colour and patination.
