S/2619 Antique Treen 19th Century Carved Tam O' Shanter Table Snuff Box

A carved wood Victorian table snuff box, believed to have been carved by a Scottish blind man in Ayrshire, who often carved items relating to the poems by Robert Burns.

This snuff box depicts Tam O' Shanter on his horse Bess crossing the bridge escaping from the witch, who has hold of the horse's tail. There are also carved dogs at each end as well as one looking down at a fox running alongside the bridge.

An extremely interesting and collectable item, which is in good condition and of a pale honey colour retaining a patination.
