S/2878 Antique Treen 19th Century Apple Wood Named and Dated Bowl

A good early 19th century Fruitwood bowl in apple wood, having a well used interior with a horizontal rim above a single mould and incised line decoration, raised on a shallow foot. The base is carved with the name of Richard Pinnel and dated 1816.

It is interesting to note that the turner made the bowl to the extremities of the block of applewood, and in doing so a flat spot occurred on the top outside, which also includes a piece of bark! The whole is an excellent colour, which one often finds with fruitwood items, especially apple wood, and it has a wonderful patination.
