S/3058 Antique Treen 17th Century Lignum Vitae Mortar

An extremely good 17th century Charles II lignum vitae mortar, having a rounded lip and a raised band above moulded and reeded turnings. The base, with a double step on a vertical foot, shows signs of use with small patinated chipping. The whole has an excellent rich colour and extremely good patination.
