S/3177 Antique Treen 19th Century Mahogany Sailor's or Sailmaker's Liner or Seam Rubber

An early 19th century mahogany sailor's or sailmaker's liner or seam rubber, having a carved diamond shaped top. The blade is used for smoothing the waxed twin stitches into the canvase, that are then known as dead men. The whole has a pleasing rich colour and patination.
