S/3239 Antique Treen 19th Century Dutch Tobacco or Storage Container

A most interesting 19th century Dutch tobacco or storage container, made of beech with ebonised decoration. The loose stepped lid, with a central finial, is fitted to the circular base, which is surrounded by twelve free standing circular turned columns with ebonised decoration. These are seated on a circular platform base, which in turn is raised on twelve short conforming turned feet. The whole has a honey colour and retains a patination.
