S/3366 Antique Treen 19th Century Fruitwood Caddy Spoon

A fine quality and unusual Swiss fruitwood caddy spoon, having an open integral handle. The base has a border of punched decoration and a carved inscription, LAUTERBRUNEN, a village in Switzerland. These caddy spoons are either Swiss or Tyrolean, and very similar in design to pap boats for feeding young babies, but they have an enclosed hood at the handle end covering half of the open area, which are also made in silver. This example is in excellent condition, and has a good rich colour and patination.
