S/3382 Antique Treen Regency Period Large Yew Wood Cribbage Board

A rare and exceptionally large solid yew wood rectangular cribbage board, for use in a public place such as a tavern or coaching inn. The top has two columns of holes for the scoring pegs, divided by wide bands of ebony stringing. The underside has two sliding lidded compartments, one for the pegs and the other for a deck of playing cards. The whole is raised on ebony ball feet, and has a good rich colour and patination.
