S/4595 Antique Treen 19th Century Drop Weight Mouse Trap
An early 19th century drop weight mouse trap in oak and fruitwood, as illustrated in Pinto plate 175. It has a fruitwood superstructure with a solid oak block, which is released by an arm with a gut string and wedge attached to a trigger when the mouse enters to feed, and therefore releases the trigger. It is initialled F.J.C. on both sides in carved capital letters. These items are quite rare these days and it is only the second one we have been offered for several years. The whole has a pleasing colour with some scattered historic worm holes and retains a good patination.
