S/5994 Antique Treen Early 19th Century Lignum Vitae and Coquilla Nutmeg Grater

A fine example of a turned and carved four section nutmeg grater having screw fittings. The bottom section is made of lignum vitae, with the remaining top half intricately carved from a coquilla nut. The removable metal grater has a bone collar and the whole has basket weave, floral leaf work and hatched decoration, with the underside turned with concentric rings. It has a rick colour and patination.
