S/6004 Antique Treen Early 18th Century Pear Wood Cross Over Nutcracker

A fine early 18th century pear wood cross over twin ball nutcracker, having faint line decoration all over, comprising of a swan, trees and leafage with a hatched border and line decorative designs. The whole is in excellent condition and has a lovely pale honey colour and original patination. For almost identical examples see, 'The Art and Character of Nutcrackers' by Arlene Wagner on page 11 and also 'Treen for the Table' by Jonathan Levi on page 157.
