S/6104 Antique Treen Early 19th Century Yew Wood Figurative Nutcracker
A well carved French figurative yew wood nut cracker depicting a smiling man, wearing a nightcap with a tassel. The tapered octagonal handle unscrews revealing an aperture at the back of his head for nuts. There is a very similar example in the book, The Art and Character of Nutcrackers by Arlene and George Wagner on page 79. The whole has an excellent colour and patination.
