S/6105 Antique Treen Mid 18th Century Fruitwood Drinking Bowl

An extremely finely turned small mid 18th century George II apple wood drinking bowl, reminiscent of a 17th century dipper cup, having a triple reeded rim and a squat circular foot. The whole is in excellent condition and has a fine colour and patination.

Provenance: purchased from Andrew Jenkins, Avon Antiques, Bradford on Avon, August 1994; Jonathan Levi Collection, labelled number 631, sold in his sale at Christies on the 8th November, illustrated on page 62, lot 165; illustrated in his book, Treen for the Table, on page 64, plate 3/35.
