About us

Jonathan Biggs of J. Collins and Son is the fourth generation in the trade, having taken over the furniture side of the business from his parents, John and Pamela, in January 2005. He now specialises in 17th-19th century items of treen and wooden bygones. His great grandfather had a shop in Harrow, in 1912, however it was his grandfather who established the business in Bideford in 1953 located in the High Street till December 2004. In September 2008 the new gallery of fine furniture (now displaying treen and wooden bygones) was opened in Charles Avenue, Bideford, which has ample parking outside and is open from 9-30am till 5-00pm Tuesday to Saturday (closed lunchtime 1-00pm to 2-00pm).

Jonathan joined the family business after leaving school and spent two years in the workshop familiarising himself with the restoration of furniture and has spent much of the years since in the business. Since taking over the business he has become a member of BADA (The British Antique Dealers' Association), and is a member of LAPADA (The Association of Art and Antique Dealers). Accreditation Logos

Having a workshop facility with a skilled cabinet maker, the furniture is restored to a high standard of conservation. Restoration of clients' furniture and paintings may be undertaken.
