S/442 George III Mahogany Gentleman’s Washstand

The bookmatched veneered hinged top opens to reveal an interior of cut-outs for a jug and basin etc. To the back is a lift up mirror, which works on a ratchet and has an adjustable support behind for the preferred angle. To the right of the mirror is a brass button, which when pressed releases the mirror to lower back down flush.

To the front is a will figured veneered door, which is above an oak lined drawer, both fitted with conforming Dutch drop handles.

The whole is raised on four square legs with an inside chamfer, which are joined by a pierced and shaped platform stretcher and is a good colour, in good condition and retains a patination.
