S/360 George III Mahogany Sewing/Patience Table

The rectangular top is outlined with holly stringing, and when opened the two leaves are each supported on a wooden hinged support, which rotates out to give a firm playing surface, that is outlined with conforming holly stringing.

To one side is a green silked sewing bag, which when closed is flush fitting, retaining a lock, and to the other side is a mahogany lined drawer fitted with wooden knob handles, compartments, ink pots, wafer slide, lock and key. To the front, back and the side above the sewing bag are conforming wooden knob dummy handles, giving the piece suitability for being free standing.

The whole is supported on tapered legs, joined by curved stretchers with a central oval platform, all outlined with conforming holly stringing and is fitted with brass cup castors in the traditional manner.
