S/517 Early Nineteenth Century Mahogany Drop Leaf Work Table
The rectangular fiddle back mahogany drop leaf top, with rounded corners, is above a single mahogany lined drawer fitted with wooden knob handles and partitions for ones requisites. To the other side is a false drawer, so that it may be freestanding in a room. Below is a tapered sewing box, covered in pleated dark green silk, within a 'U' shaped mahogany surround.
The whole, fitted with a lock and key, is raised on a turned column and is supported on a four sided, concave platform base, in turn raised on four swept and scrolled feet, which terminate in brass cap castors in the traditional manner for the period.
The table is in good condition, has a pleasing colour and retains a patination.
