S/915 George III Mahogany Converted Knife Box

The lid, decorated with burnished boxwood and sycamore inlay depicting a shell and outlined with boxwood stringing, lifts to reveal a converted interior of five mahogany compartments for ones letters. The whole, fitted with an ivory knob handle, ivory escutcheon, lock and key is in good condition and retains a patination.
