S/679 George III Mahogany Octagonal Wine Cooler

The brass bound lid, with a stepped and moulded edge, opens to reveal a lead lined interior with angled divisions for nine bottles, with a central drain hole and tap under. The body, with two further brass bands and a folding carrying handle to each side, is fitted to a conforming mahogany stand, raised on four square splayed and tapered legs, terminating in brass and leather wheeled castors of the period.

The whole, fitted with a lock and key, is of a fine rich colour, in good condition and retains a patination.
