S/998 Late Georgian Mahogany Tallboy

The moulded cornice, with satinwood and ebony inlay, is above a frieze with inlaid satinwood decoration. The top half, with inlaid canted corners, has two short and three full width oak lined drawers, with the base comprising of a mahogany brushing slide above three full width drawers, all retaining their original gilded brass bail handles and crossbanded in satinwood and with a double band of ebony and satinwood stringing. The whole is raised on shaped bracket feet.

On detailed examination we have concluded that this tallboy has been re-polished and the drawers re-cockbeaded, owing to the fact that the satinwood inlay, banding and stringing has been added at a later date, to enhance the finely figured veneers that have been used to make this fine Georgian tallboy.
