S/1786 19th Century Lignum Vitae String Barrel

A lignum vitae string barrel having a mixed colour of heart and sapwood. The screw lid is surmounted by a raised cutter within a turned finial, and it has a stepped base in the traditional manner. The whole has a good colour and retains a patination.
