S/1860 Antique Treen 19th Century Chip Carved Knitting Sheath

An extremely fine chip carved knitting sheath, signed Mary Proud North Shields and dated 1825, in fine condition and having a good honey colour retaining a patination.

On the 31st. Ocober 1825 a Mary Proud was married to William Aikman in Newcastle on Tyne, and a death is recorded on the 24th. June 1894 at North Shields.
