S/2031 Early 20th Century European Oak Windsor Type Chair

An interesting oak Windsor type chair made by a High Wycombe manufacturer after an American design. These chairs were called Pressed Chairs, and in America and Australia in catalogues of 1908, similar examples are illustrated. It is known that in High Wycombe, Buckinghamshire, the home of Windsor chairs, they made a fairly small quantity of them, being copies of those illustrated, occasionally incorporating their own designs.

We would like to thank Bernard Cotton, the author of 'The English Regional Chair' for his help in researching this item.
