S/2026 Antique 19th Century Whalebone Fid
A small whalebone fid, often used in whaling boats for splicing ropes. They came in various sizes, mostly made of lignum vitae, and the largest one recorded is 52 inches in length, probably used on the massive anchor cables of a large vessel.
