S/2106 Mid 18th Century Red Walnut Stick Barometer by Polti of Exon

A mid 18th century red walnut stick barometer by Polti of Exon (Exeter) in full working condition. The rounded top has an engraved brass register plate (originally silvered) with an adjustable sliding wire setting pointer. The mercurial tube is enclosed with a moulded cover, terminating in a well turned red walnut cistern cover. The whole has a rich dark colour and patination.
