S/2466 Antique Treen 19th Century Pearwood Snuff Box

A very unusual rectangular pearwood snuff box, having sides and curves carved with six dogs' heads with carved ears and brass pin eyes. The box has a level base with scolloped edges. The top, with a well fitting wooden hinged lid, opens to reveal the aperture for snuff. The whole has a lovely shaded honey colour and fine patination, a serious collector's item.
