S/2520 Antique Treen 19th Century Walnut Go to Bed

A good walnut go to bed, which is larger than usual, having a base used to store matches and a domed lid with a match finial. It has a well turned moulded and stepped foot with a striker under.

As well as lighting the way to bed, they were also used on the desk for melting sealing wax for letters. The whole has a good rich colour and patination.
