A rare solid rosewood and brass ended wither or cane splitter, used for making baskets and other household objects. Our thanks to Ms Elizabeth J Boddington (c-1998) for supplying the history of this item that was used and belonged to her great grandfather Arthur Boddington, who was a craftsman and master basket maker in Manchester. The hand written information is supplied.
