S/2624 Antique Treen 19th Century Lignum Vitae Go to Bed
An attractive lignum vitae capstan shaped go to bed in two sections, having a screw thread and a circular carved striking area on the base. The interior was used for the storage of matches and the top has a small hole for the match. These were also used as a desk item to melt sealing wax for letters. The whole has a good rich colour and patination.
