A good 18th century bullet or barrel shaped lignum vitae coffee grinder or mill in both heart and sap wood, having a top section with a tall acorn finial, that reveals the spindle for the folding handle, which is housed in the lower section for travelling. The grinding steel mill, which is in working order, is within the third section and the whole is seated on a concave, stepped and rounded foot. It has various well patinated chips showing plenty of use, which adds to the character of this excellent piece. The whole has a lovely grain, colour and patination.
