S2778 Antique Treen 19th Century Fruitwood Love Spoon
A fine Welsh fruitwood love spoon of exceptional quality, having a handle of an architectural design of three pillared caged lanterns, the top two each containing a ball, and the bottom one containing two balls. The balls graduate in size and the lanterns are all minutely chip carved all over in the traditional manner. These are above a sloping panel to the pointed bowl, which is supported at the back with an open finely carved rope twist.
The whole is of a most delicate nature, in pristine condition, and has a pale honey colour and good patination. An excellent example of fine workmanship.
