S/2895 Antique Treen 18th Century Dated and Initialled Yew Wood Welsh Love Spoon

A rare 18th century dated and initialled Welsh yew wood love spoon, having a top with a single chain ring above a square section with carved initials R.L., and on the opposite side the date of 1799. Below are four open lantern pillars with a single moving ball and chip carving. Below this are four joined columns again with chip carving above the pointed spoon.

The whole is of lovely honey colour, as often found in yew wood, and the spoon has horizontal grain. It has excellent patination throughout.
