S/2898 Antique Treen 19th Century Welsh Fruitwood Love Spoon

An intricately carved named and dated fruitwood Welsh love spoon, having a top with an eight link chain joined by a circular link at the top. The body comprises of two chip carved vertical lanterns with a movable ball in each. These are supported by a solid triangular chip carved and cross section, branded on the reverse Jolin Gorst and dated 1844. The spoon has a square shaped and carved handle and the bowl is deep and of most attractive proportions. The whole has a lovely rich colour and good patination.
