S/2917 Antique Treen 19th Century Fruitwood Cat
A good well turned fruitwood bowl stand known as a cat, having six legs with deep decorative ring turnings and oval ball ends. The whole has an exceptional colour and patination.
N.B. A cat was used to support a plate or dish to be warmed by the fire place and the name may have been derived from a cats favoured position next to the fire or the way in which it always falls on its feet.
