S/3009 Antique Treen 19th Century Fruitwood Manual Trumpet Shaped Foetal Heart Midwifery Stethoscope
A good fruitwood manual trumpet shaped foetal heart midwifery stethoscope, having a detachable screw base. The stethoscope was invented by Rene Laennec in 1818, and he published his findings in 1819. He was then appointed Professor of Clinical Medicine at the Paris University. The whole retains a patination and is of an attractive colour as often found in fruitwood.
